Volunteer
The St.
Vincent de Paul Society invites interested persons to help in our ministry of
service to our brothers and sisters suffering financial, emotional and spiritual hardships.
Volunteers are needed for the Store, Warehouse, Building Maintenance,
Charity Office and various other areas.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Charitable Works Office
Front Desk:
Do you like to smile and enjoy visiting with your neighbors? Then
filling in on the front desk may be right up your alley. You will be helping
clients sign in and giving them direction.
File Clerk:
Helping the Resource Worker in the CWO by filing and other simple
clerical duties.
Bread Pickup Driver:
Stop at various businesses in town to pick up their donations of bread
and sweets to give to the hungry.
Payee Volunteer:
Assist the Representative Payee with writing checks and other
bookkeeping duties.
Food Room:
Sorting, stocking and
organizing of items in the food pantry and filling food boxes for those in need.
Thrift Store Operations
Store:
Hanging of clothing, keeping displays stocked and in order; Assist
customers in finding merchandise; Keeping store clean and neat.
Warehouse:
Assist in sort process of both clothing and misc. items as to usability;
Test and make minor repairs of small appliances, lamps, etc. so they can be
used; Assist donors making donation on-site; Assist in bale operation; Unload
bags of clothing from trucks.
Building Maintenance:
Painting interior & exterior spaces; General handyman projects ranging
from plumbing to carpentry; Lawn/weed control.
Basement Volunteer:
Do you enjoy
interacting with customers? We are looking for someone who understands what
customer service is all about and enjoys helping shoppers find exactly what they
are looking for. If you're free weekdays or Saturday and can do a little light
lifting, this may be the job for you.
Heavy Lifter Volunteer
You don't have to be Mr. Universe to volunteer but we sure could use some
muscle! If you're free weekdays or Saturday, we need help with heavy lifting
within the store and for customer carry out. We are seeking volunteers who are
in good physical condition and are able to lift heavier boxes and furniture
items. You must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Furniture Repair
Volunteer
If you're good with tools and repairs, we need you! Help us take furniture
donations that need some TLC or elbow grease, and turn them into shining stars
on the merchandise floor! Hours are flexible and vary based on repair need and
your schedule. We are seeking someone who is reliable and has an interest in
working with furniture and tools. Experience with furniture repair a plus but
not necessary.
Small Appliance
Volunteer
Like to tinker? Have an electrical talent? We sure could use your help repairing
TV's, toasters, lamps, etc. These items will be for sale in our stores. Hours
are flexible and vary based on repair need and your schedule. We are seeking
volunteers who are reliable and have good mechanical/electrical type repair
skills. Experience with appliance repair a plus.
General Thrift Store
Volunteer
Your hours volunteering at our thrift stores reach so many in need! No amount of
time given is too small. We always have things to be done: sort, tag, shelve
products, clean and tidy store, special projects, etc. All of these tasks
contribute to providing good quality necessary items to our store customers.
Join us now! Here's a great opportunity for teens, adults, groups and families.
Teens ages 13 to 17 require supervision. You must have a positive attitude, a
cheerful, smiling demeanor and a willingness to dive into any and all
duties/tasks needed.
We have
opportunities for persons of all ages and having a wide variety of skills to
support our work. Volunteering is as easy as sending us an email or calling us at 406-252-1855. Many school groups with children of all ages
have come into the store working in the food pantry stocking shelves or tagging
toys and clothing that will go out on the Thrift Store shelves. It is a great
way for students to earn come community service hours and learn more about
helping others in the community.
